Let's start.

Let's start.

Just a few four-patches. You have to start somewhere.

Enough for a border

Enough for a border

After finishing more four-patches, I wanted to see how the flowers looked. They'll do.

Growth spurt

Growth spurt

Jeff was independently busy this weekend, giving me time to sew. I have enough flower pieces to serve as a full border -- but not enough board space to put them up. As the piece contracts as the four-patches get sewn together, I'll have room to add them.

Perspective, just to make sure nothing stands out too much.

Two-thirds!

Two-thirds!

if you look at these chunks as each having six units, well, I've only got six units left to sew and this quilt top is done. I have GOT to get better lighting on this design board. Must ... contemplate...

Sunfish

Sunfish

Jacob named it. A little bit of sun, sea, and sky. Cheery and bright, so that the kiddo-to-be can be a kid with it. No need to baby it...

I really need to get those storage containers moved. It'll happen in time. I'm liking this layout much better, now that the small squares flow with the larger squares.

Does it matter which way the squares go?

Does it matter which way the squares go?

In a word: yes. I realized I wanted the big squares to flow together with the little squares as much as possible.

Stargirl, completed

Stargirl, completed

Stargirl is ready to go home with Crystal. It's my first quilt made, start to finish, after Jeff's accident.

After quilting

After quilting

Stargirl is ready for its binding. If you are unfamiliar with this quilt, it is for a close friend of my husband's who has been an invaluable help to me after his near-fatal accident in December. This quilt contains pieces from a few of his hospital gowns.
